It may surprise you to learn that I like Pitbull. Not the dog, the artist, rapper and entrepreneur. Now I know that I am not in his “target demographic”, but his music is fun! Several of his songs are on my playlist when I workout. I respect his backstory and admire the brand he has built for himself. Part of the appeal is his cool name. (I’ve secretly always wanted my own cool rapper name like Snoop Dogg, Eminem, 50 Cent, Twista, JLo or my personal favorite, Ludacris.)
While I imagine there may be a few things that Pitbull and I might disagree on, there is one where he is spot on.

A few weeks ago, Pitbull released the song, “I Believe That We Will Win”. The song is catchy and the lyrics are fun. It’s inspirational and kind of an anthem for resetting our attitude in challenging times.
The last six weeks have been filled with difficult conversations. Many of the over 50 CEOs I work with are facing their fear as they struggle to keep their companies afloat and employees working. These are stressful times with hard decisions and long days. For many of our members, this is the first economic downturn they have faced. This is my sixth downturn and... I believe that we will win.
I believe that we will win because business owners are smart and they never quit. I believe that we will win because our employees are hard working and have pride in their company. I believe that we will win because we’re a community, locally and nationally. I believe that we will win because we have each other and the love and support of our families. And I believe that we will win because we have to. Our country, our community, our family and our employees are counting on us.
My work as a Vistage chair has never been more important and fulfilling. I take seriously every relationship and every conversation. We’ve worked hard to provide the most impactful resources to our members and leave no one behind. We have a lot of work ahead of us. We will do it together, as we have before.
So, I agree with Pitbull, “I believe we gonna face everything and rise”. I believe in YOU. Let’s do it together with a smile on our face!
